Description
Sweet Chili Beef with Peppers is a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner that combines tender beef, crispy peppers, and a sweet and spicy chili sauce. This dish is easy to prepare and can be customized to fit various taste preferences.

- 1 lb (450g) sirloin or ribeye beef, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, sliced (optional for spice)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and cornstarch slurry. Mix well and set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil and sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Add the sliced bell peppers and jalapeños, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well to coat all ingredients.
- Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is well combined.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add more jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute chicken or tofu for beef to suit dietary preferences.
- Use gluten-free soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
- Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less brown sugar.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
