Description

Naughty Knots are sweet, cinnamon-infused rolls twisted into a knot shape, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it sit until frothy.
  2. Combine melted butter and beaten egg in a bowl, then add the yeast mixture.
  3. Mix flour, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a cloth for about 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon on the rolled-out dough, adding optional fillings.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Let the knots rise in a greased baking dish for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Check the temperature of the milk to ensure it activates the yeast properly.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic for the best texture.
  • Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free area.
  • Keep an eye on the baking time to prevent over-browning.
