Description

A unique twist on traditional French toast featuring thick slices of bread soaked in a creamy egg mixture, cooked to golden perfection, with melted cheese and spicy kimchi.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of thick bread 🍞
  • 2 large eggs 🥚
  • 1/2 cup milk 🥛
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) 🧀
  • 1/2 cup kimchi, chopped 🌶️
  • 1 tbsp butter 🧈
  • Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish 🌿

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs and milk together in a mixing bowl, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Cook the dipped bread in the skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Add shredded cheese on top of each slice, cover the skillet, and let the cheese melt for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Top with chopped kimchi and optional green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Thick bread works best to absorb the egg mixture without falling apart.
  • Stale bread can be used for better absorption.
  • Control the skillet heat to avoid burning the bread.
  • Adjust kimchi quantity based on spice tolerance.
